Dear Friends,
I don’t know about you, but there’s only one thing on my mind these days: the upcoming election. Among the many issues on the line is criminal justice reform. To that end, I’ve written a five-step action guide on my blog with ideas for how you can help promote progressive justice reforms. Please take a look and let me know what else you think we can do in the next few weeks.
Some of you had the chance to meet my dear friend, Raman Gill, who moderated the recent “official” book release event at Watchung Booksellers. Raman and I have been very disheartened by the news that some progressives are thinking about sitting out this election because they don’t feel that Biden and Harris represent their vision for change, particularly given their prior track record in the criminal justice arena. We got together to write a piece, using our collective 50 years of experience in criminal justice, to make the case that the Biden-Harris ticket has set out a strong and clear reform agenda that progressives can and should embrace. You can find our piece, “Biden and Harris Have Changed on Criminal Justice — Now Progressives Need to Vote for Them” on Medium.
Speaking of Raman, here’s a screenshot of us chatting away about no-crime wrongful convictions and (as she put it) the evil empire. What a night! Many, many heartfelt thanks to all of you who attended. The video is available for viewing on my website. You can also find some really great pictures of my socially-distanced book signing event on the “Events” page of my website — thanks to everyone who stopped by!
In other exciting book news, I have a number of book-related events coming up, including a virtual book talk at my alma mater, Bucknell University, on October 14th at noon. The registration link is available here. Come on by, and bring a friend.
And one more thing. If you’ve read the book, I would so love for you to spread the word by adding a review on Amazon or Goodreads — a single review has more impact than you can possibly imagine.
Thanks as always for all that you do!
Stay safe and well,
Jessica
