Raise a “Smoke but No Fire” to Celebrate Good News
Dear Friends,
I am thrilled to share the news that “Smoke but No Fire” won the 2021 Montaigne Medal, which is offered each year “to the most thought-provoking books…[that] illuminate, progress, or redirect thought.”

What an honor to have “Smoke but No Fire” selected for such a distinctive award!
I am hoping you will celebrate with me by raising a “Smoke but No Fire.”
I recently had the pleasure of joining Huckleberry Podcast host Carly Gelsinger to talk about wrongful convictions for crimes that never happen, police misconduct, and why women are more vulnerable to no-crime wrongful convictions.
At the end of each podcast episode, Carly develops a signature cocktail recipe based on the book that was discussed. Her “Smoke but No Fire” drink is a smoky, delectable, refreshing treat. Make yourself a drink, sit back, and take a listen!

And please don’t put that glass down yet because I’ve got one more piece of good news to share. “Smoke but No Fire” is now available for pre-order in paperback. You can order your copy today!

After over a year, I finally had the chance to visit my mom and the infamous Betty White. I didn’t think my mom would want to be featured in my newsletter, but I figured Betty wouldn’t mind one bit. I hope you too are having the opportunity to reconnect with family and friends.
I am grateful for vaccines… and for all the amazing people in my life that I can’t wait to see in person.
Thank you for all that you do.
Take good care,
Jessica
