The Impeachment “Trial” and Voting Bans
Dear Friends,
I’ve been thinking a lot about the Senate impeachment “trial” and the Republican Senators’ decision to block evidence from being presented and considered. It reminded me of state election laws that prevent people with felony convictions from voting. The two concepts are connected in ways that challenge the very foundations of our democracy. You can read about it in my latest piece, “What Impeachment and Voting Bans Have in Common: The Fear of Too Much Truth,” at http://jessicahenryjustice.com/what-impeachment-and-voting-bans-have-in-common-the-fear-of-too-much-truth/. Please pass this along to others who might be interested, and be sure to let me know what you think!
On a different note, a number of people have asked if there is a video of my speech at the 2020 Women’s March in NYC. If you’d like to see it, you can check it out here: http://jessicahenryjustice.com/media/. It was an inspiring and empowering day, and one that I will always remember.
Thanks for your support and take care,
Jessica Henry
